Computer is not reading the external drive

I bought an WD Element SE external drive  and downloaded files and pictures on it. Only after one month with hardly any use I connected it to my computer and the computer wouldn’t read it. I took it back to the shop I bought it from but they said they couldn’t do anything about and that they cannot open it to fix otherwise the warrenty will be lost.

When connected the indicator light flashes and you can hear a humming sound by the computer won’t read it.

Does anyone have a remedy or a solution , I have many files that I dont want to lose.

Thank you

Hello, have you checked if the Elements is recognized on the disk management window? You can also try using another USB cable. Check the link below for the steps to open the disk management.

How to access Disk Management in Windows 7, Vista, XP or 2000 to manage your hard drives

Hi

I have the same problem except I have been successfully using my external drive for a couple of years.

I am using Window 7, the indicator light is glowing on the drive and I could feel and hear it power up.

Model is WD3200MES.

Is there a driver I can download??

Thanks
