WD Elements no longer recognized by PC. Help!

2 weeks ago, I was using my WD Elements 1.5tb hard drive with no problem as I have for the last few years. Last week, my PC is no longer recognizing it. I am still using Windows 7 and nothing has been changed or updated on the PC. I tried different USB ports, restarting the computer, still nothing. It no longer makes the sound when its plugged in and it is not listed under the device manager at all. I called WD support, and he had me check a few things, and then told me it needed a new USB cord. So, I finally purchase a new cord today. I get home and plug it in to the drive and to the PC, and still NOTHING! Have I lost everything?! How do I recover it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the drive showing under disk management? If yes, how is the drive showing?

What about trying on a different PC.

It’s not showing at all. It’s as if it’s not even plugged into the PC, but it is. And it’s getting power because its light is on.

Well, right now that’s not a possibility. We only have one PC.
