Can I make small AVI files ?

The SMC  make very big file’s  : like  from  13MB of *.WMV  TO  300 MB !!!  in

AVI !!!   what can can i do for smaller files ?

Nothing. As far as we’ve been able to determine so far, the Fuze only supports uncompressed (!) DivX video.

Download the preinstalled video file from the Fuze (via MTP) and you can analyze it:

> file WAZ.MineToRemember.SansaPlayer.avi
WAZ.MineToRemember.SansaPlayer.avi: RIFF (little-endian) data, AVI, 224 x 176, 20.00 fps, video: uncompressed DivX 5, audio: MPEG-1 Layer 3 (stereo, 44100 Hz)

> mplayer WAZ.MineToRemember.SansaPlayer.avi
Playing WAZ.MineToRemember.SansaPlayer.avi.

Clip info:
 Software: InterVideo

Opening video decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg’s libavcodec codec family
Selected video codec: [ffodivx] vfm: ffmpeg (FFmpeg MPEG-4)

Opening audio decoder: [mp3lib] MPEG layer-2, layer-3
AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 128.0 kbit/9.07% (ratio: 16000->176400)
Selected audio codec: [mp3] afm: mp3lib (mp3lib MPEG layer-2, layer-3)

670 kbps is indeed pretty hefty for something as small as 224x176. OTOH, you can’t expect something as small as the Fuze to do sophisticated video decompression.

Thanks for your  detailed answer,  I hope that SanDisk

will make it better next time.
