My SSD isn’t being detected by the computer, and I need to recover important data. Is it still possible to attempt data recovery in this situation? If so, what tools or methods would you recommend? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @jacky_sin ,
Yes, data recovery can still be attempted if the SSD isn’t detected by the computer. First, check the SSD connections and cables. If issues persist, try connecting the SSD to another computer or use a different port. You can also use data recovery software, but if these methods fail, professional data recovery services might be necessary. For more details, visit How to Recover Data from Undetected SSD.
Hi @jacky_sin,
I understand how stressful this can be. If your SSD isn’t being detected, first, try using a different USB cable or adapter, as sometimes faulty ones cause this issue. You can also check in Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac) to see if the SSD shows up there.
If not, as rightly mentioned by @Sarich_mike , you can attempt recovery with data recovery software. Just ensure you avoid further use to prevent overwriting data.
Yes. First, ensure that the SSD is properly connected to the computer. Try using a different USB or SATA cable, or connect it to a different port on your PC. Then, open Disk Management (right-click on the Start button and select ‘Disk Management’) to check how the drive appears there. If the drive is missing a letter, right-click and assign a new drive letter, such as H: or I:.
You can also try other methods, such as using a disk repair tool to fix the issue, updating or reinstalling the USB drivers, or enabling the SSD in the BIOS setup.
