Okay, first of all, is there any such thing as a black 4GB clip? There’s one listed on the US Amazon site, and I’ve seen it mentioned in forums, but it’s not listed on the SanDisk website.
If there is such a thing, where could I get one in the UK? Either online or in stores. Preferably not on import as presumably the charger would be a US one?
I don’t know about 4GB black Clips, but importing isn’t a problem. The “charger” that comes with the Clip is just a USB cable. And no matter what the power into the PC is, the power at the USB port is the same (unless it’s an un powered port).
is colour really an issue for something that’s going to be in your pocket for 99.9% of the time? as you’re in the uk, pick up a silver 8gb for £39.99 from currys or pcworld and be happy.
You’re forgetting, that lovely black colour Clip also has an easier to read display, no “sunglasses” over the OLED display.
The silver variant had the uber cool tinting, but this was at a price: many found the display hard to read in bright light.
The black lacquer looks very nice indeed. Have you checked vendors in Germany? The black one debuted over there.

I can just imagine. I’ve found these last couple weeks that even my red and black Clips require boosting the brightness quite a bit in the sun, even when cupping one’s hand in front of it. That said, the silver ones look really sweet indoors, but I’ve never seen one powered on.
It is to me! Could probably do better than £40, too, they’re £22-ish from Amazon or Play. But I’m still holding out for a black one.
eh?
that’s 40quid for 8gb - amazon are charging 29.99 for 2gb clips? and play have the 4gb for 26.99?
edit: just seen a refurb 4gb on the marketplace for 21.99? i guess that’s the one what you were looking at. but with 4 quid for postage, i think you’d be better off getting a new one…
