Dear Team, I am using WD My Passport Ultra 1 TB external drive. Suddenly, it is showing Format Disk option when connected to laptop. Kindly help in this matter as I have important data in my hard drive. Thanks.
If you have a disk formatted for a Windows computer and plug it into a Mac (or vice versa.) your drive cannot be read so the standard response from computer is to tell user format the drive. Well, if it was a good working drive, it should NOT be formatted. Other things can also trigger this kind of response to a drive that cannot be read. See if you can figure out why drive cannot be read and correct the problem. If not, contact WD Support.
