WD Passport Ultra contaminated by a Mac

I have a WD My Passport Ultra. Straight of the box (the hard drive that is) my partner copies files to it on a Mac. My laptop (Windows 8.1) cannot even recognise it let alone access the files. When I plug it into my laptop it cannot be seen so I am unsure how i can now use his on a PC or access the files on it.

Can anyone advise what I can do to access the files on my laptop but also to format the unidentifiable hard drive on my laptop.

Thanks, John

Hello,

If the drive was used on a Mac it means it was formatted for Mac and unfortunately Windows cannot read a drive that has Mac format (HFS). In order to use it on Windows you will have to format it for Windows (NTFS).  Please note that formatting it will delete all files on it.
