Are all Zip Models being discontinued.

I hope not. I noticed only 5 zip types on the Sandisk website and noticed the 4GB were being discontinued on the amazon site.

Of all the three clips available (+,zip, sport) I find the zip to be the best of the three in terms of features. Like the alphabet browsing and the podcast works really well with only one minor bug and of the three models the zip has the best podcast experience for me. Also like the RDS which is not available in the + model.

Like the album art as well.

I know the sport and zip look similar (although the sport looks better but has less inside) but would hope the zip they would at least keep the 8GB model.

The SoC used in the Clip+/Clip Zip (AS3525A/AS3525B) has reached end of life and is going out of production. My bet is that Sandisk is just selling out old inventory. This might also be one of the reasons why Sandisk designed the new Clip Sport to use the atj2127 instead.

Now, that is sad news to hear!    :frowning:

The SoC used in the Clip+ and Clip Zip is often referred to as ”AS3525v2” and if we are really lucky this is a completely different chip that will remain in production (some says it is an AS3543). It’s really hard to get hold of brand new Clip Zip though and as stated by

clipfan7, most models are labelled as “Discontinued by Manufacturer”

The chip in the Sansa series is a custom part thats newer than the AS3525, but they only ever made it for Sandisk as far as I know, so if Sandisk stopped selling it, then its out of production.
