128GB drive giving bad sector errors

I bought a 128GB Ultra Plus SSD a couple months ago, and have issues with it. Some files started corrupting, and in the event viewer for System I see numerous (hundreds) of bad block messages. Windows 7 32 bit Home Premium, if it matters.

  1. Firmware updates fail - there is no diagnostic or error message, it just says failed. It’s definitely in need of an update as it’s a few revisions behind.
  2. Trying to run a chkdisk on it sometimes works (finds bad sectors) but sometimes gives an erroor about not enough space to continue.

I’ve done a full format and reinstall with a chkdisk in between but the problem returned. This laptop previously had a different SSD installed and ran fine. I emailed the SanDisk tech supporta few weeks ago but never got a reply. I’d like some advice on what to do to or try, as it’s looking like the drive may just be defective.

Error Message examples:

“The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\DR1.”

“The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block.”

Thanks in advance!

sounds like you will need to get it replaced. contact sandisk support for warranty replacement.
