I know it’s still frustrating, but you’ve ruled out some basic problems.
The Fuze usually freezes when it hits a file it doesn’t like. There are two main reasons: a corrupt file or bad ID3 tags (the electronic labels in the files that tell the Fuze Artist, Title, Album, etc.)
To see if it’s a corrupt file, right-click on the drive where you have the songs and do Properties/Tools/Error-Checking.If it finds a baddie, it will ask you if it should “save bad chains” or something like that. Don’t save them.
If that doesn’t find anything, then the tags are in a form the Fuze doesn’t like. This is because there’s no worldwide standard for ID3 tags, and lots of variations.
The easiest thing to do is run all your albums through mp3tag, a free program, to standardize them. Here’s how.
