You need to format the disk in drive E: before you can use it

Can someone please advise me what to do… I tried accessing My Passport from both my PC and Laptop, however I keep getting a message " You need to format the disk in drive E:  befor you can use it… Do you want to format it?"

I have tons and tons of data on my passport and I do not want to lose it…

Please advise me what is the next step.

Take a look at this link.

Sometimes this error happens when you unplug the drive as it is writing a file. Always remember to safely eject your media before unplugging it.
