Yahoo! Music Subscription service discontinued

Ok, so after pressing for a date when Music Gremlin support will be added, I am now I’m being told to RMA it for a replacement.  The CSR wouldn’t tell me which model (I guess it’s the Fuze, based on an earlier posting), which leaves me in a bit of a quandary.  Without the wi-fi functionality, the Connect is basically the same (if not a bit bulkier) than the competition’s flash based PMPs. When considering the fact that the battery doesn’t last for more than a couple of days in standby mode, I’m tempted to get the exchange. OTOH, it does have an external speaker, which is occasionally handy, and assuming that the Launchcast stations aren’t disabled, it still has some limited wi-fi functionality.  I guess I’m torn on this, and would love to hear some other opinions.

You will still be able to listen to Yahoo! Music’s 100+ free LAUNCHcast
radio stations

This is very comforting to me.  I don’t listen to the Internet radio often, because it’s not allowed at work and almost never at home.  I do sneak it on the 'net at work on occasion and I do enjoy it.  In any case, I hope this teaches a few people about how utterly BAD DRM is.  If the servers are turned off, so are the music people legally purchased.

A bit off topic here:  but I really would like it if Sansa would support the Ogg format and update the firmware for the Connect to support Ogg.

Oh, I should add that those who bought the DRM’d music from Yahoo will be able to get their music in MP3 format DRM-free, as long as it exists on the Rhapsody service.  Here is the discussion about that topic: http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/07/30/2229250
