Gee, I just went to the SanDisk store to see if they are still selling the Connect. As expected, ‘Out of Stock’. I’d be shocked to see them ‘In Stock’ at the SanDisk Store before they come up with another service for streaming music. Obviously, SanDisk is better off NOT selling any more units until they resolve this, since every unit sold could become a liability since they might not be able to deliver streaming (WI-FI) as the unit promises.

At that time, your wireless connectivity to the Yahoo Music service will be discontinued, but the device will continue to provide access to other music subscription services when connected by a cable to your PC.
Strangely enough, Yahoo is still selling Yahoo Music Unlimited subscriptions.
Is yahoo launchcast for the connect going to be cancelled as well? I am currently on the trial and was going to sign up launchcast plus for 1 year. Also, this is off topic but I was wondering if the connect is able to support 8gb micro sd’s yet.

Your first question has been asked about a million times in this forum, and I think several times in this thread. Did you bother to do a search?
And the Connect supports up to an 8GB microSD HC card.
A few say that when the firmware is updated it will stop working. But few others also say that the sansa is completely taking away the wi-fi capability when the unlimited switches over, hence launchcast won’t work either. I’m confused.

That’s because everyone’s guessing, but it looks like nobody knows except Sandisk. Sandisk employees’ own posts haven’t said anything explicitly about Launchcast. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
I just bought my Connect in December, purchased the yearlong service. I certainly hope we have some recourse. It’s been a pretty pisspoor service. I get kicked out of it constantly. Was about to upgrade to see if it would work better. I’m not gonna bother.

I haven’t heard of many people getting kicked out of the service. No offense, but it could be your Wifi network setup.
I asked for and received the Connect as a Christmas present. I wanted it for it’s WiFi capabilities as well as the Yahoo to go subscription. I’m extremely unhappy at the probability that it is going to lose the WiFi function. I hope Sandisk takes appropriate actions to offer it’s customers other options before the July cutoff date. Worse still, it’s unfathomable to me that they are still selling the Connect!
I am not a happy camper… or a happy customer!! I only wish I had discovered this forum before Christmas. I would have asked for a different player.
I am actually Ok not using the wifi services (I don’t use them at this moment), is there a way
actually to switch from Yahoo to Rhapsody manually ? to use the unlimited music to go ?
Also I am wondering if we get moved to Rhapsody, I could use that account on Tivo as well.

Do you mean, Rhapsody downloads and not over WiFi? Rhapsody downloads should work fine on the Connect. If you mean WiFi, no, there is no way to do that as the firmware doesn’t support it.
Not sure what you mean about Unlimited Music To Go. Any way to use it?
I just recently purchased my ‘Connect’ and I was initially going to ask where the link was for the ‘30 day free trial’ to the Yahoo Music Unlimited To Go was. It references in the pamphlet www.sandisk.com/sansaconnect but I did not see a link for it. But then I see all this posted information about the discontinuation of service. This was one of the main reasons I purchased this item was because of the wireless. I was a little disappointed to know that you could not use any other service but still happy (until now) that I could get ‘Internet Radio’.
Does anyone know if another service will be provided?
I don’t quite understand the post saying that 'the device will continue to provide access to other music subscription services when connected by a cable to your PC." What does that mean ‘connectd by a cable’?

Would that not defeat the meaning of wireless?
No one knows whether (1) Launchcast will be discontinued (this is not the same thing as Yahoo Music To Go, it is the streaming Yahoo music stations), or (2) another service will be provided in place of Yahoo Music To Go. No one who doesn’t work for Sandisk, anyway.
My guess is that “the device will continue to provide access to other music subscription services when connected by a cable to your PC” means simply that you can continue to sync subscription music to the Connect via a USB cable. In other words, not over WiFi.
As far as the wireless capabilities, it is too early to tell what is going to happen. Many on this thread are making predictions, but there’s no true answer yet. I take Sandisk at their word that they’re trying to work out a solution, but it probably won’t be until this summer that a transition happens.
The main reason most people bought the Connect was for the Wi-Fi connectability. By taking this feature away from your customers you have made this device 50% useless to us. This will be a bad business move if your company does not correct this and make the device’s Wi-Fi usable again. I, for one, will never buy one of your devices again if this is not corrected and you can count on that. If other customers feel like I do your company will suffer greatly. Enough said!
I wholeheartedly agree. Just bought my Connect in January. I love (soon to be “loved”) the wi-fi. I would use it exclusively if I was not forced to connect via PC once a month to update the licenses! (That part ■■■■■.) SanDisk did a great thing by creating a slick wi-fi Mp3 device, and a terrible thing partnering with Yahoo for music content. I hope they listen to their customer base and provide a viable solution for Connect owners.

Ay yi yi yi yi.
Are any of you Newbies with “Posts: 1” reading the threads onto which you add your first post? Nobody knows what’s going to happen with the WiFi feature. All we know is that Yahoo Music To Go downloads are going away.
Yahoo is still advertising their unlimited service on the start up screen of Yahoo music and guess what their “recommended device” is. Talk about irony not to mention ultimate in sleazy behavior.
I only post a reply to this thread to make my voice heard. As most Connect owners, I purchased the Connect specifically for its Wi-Fi capabilities. It was perfect for my 12 year-old. It allows him to select his own music without the need for computer access. And although I don’t find it necessary, I can also monitor the music he downloads through the yahoo service.
I’m a loyal customer and fan of Sandisk. I’ve outfitted my full family of four with Sansa products; and each person is pleased with their player. Thats four Sansas and more memory cards than I’d prefer to count. I hope Sandisk can find a solution for us Connect owners that will keep its current featureset unchanged.
