Windows and mac compatibility

I own a WD My Passport, external portable hard drive that I have backed up a lot of work onto.  I have recently changed computers from a windows dell laptop to a MacPro… here the problem begins!

Is this passport now unusable with my Mac? Do I need to purchase a new passport compatible with a Mac instead or is there another way??

Apologies for what may be a simple solution but Macs are not my friend and I am still trying to adapt and continuously finding software that is not compatible doesnt make it easy!

Hi jENRYAN, if you are using the default Windows file system for your Passport (NTFS) you wont be able to copy any files from your Mac. In order to use it on both you need for format it on exFAT, note that this will delete your files, so do a backup first.
