According to the specs this model is compatible with Vista. No additional drivers are required for external hard drives, those comes built-in the OS. You may try using the drive in another computer.

the question will be… does the drive work with any computer?
it could be a failed drive…

It was working fine on my desk top with windos XP but not on my laptop ?
It worked one time then you could hear the drive spin down on shut of then it did work anymore ?
