I just purchased a 2TB My Studio LX (for Mac) and have tried a half dozen times to get the WD Smartware apps to work with zero success.
I’m using the current version on Lion (OS 10.7.3) on a 2010 iMac, and although the app opens, nothing happens. The Virtual CD does nothing and I can’t use any of the labeling or back up functions. Even the “Preferences” section is greyed out, and therefore non-functioning.
I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the software multiple times with no luck. Only once did the app actually begin to work, creating an inventory of my start-up drive but failing to work with the WD My Studio LX drive (it would continually reset when I tried to work with the WD My Studio HD). I reinstalled the software again and it’s back to being an empty app. Virtual CD does nothing except crash.
Hard to understand what’s wrong here other than WD has a severely flawed piece of software, which is unacceptable considering this is what’s supposed to make My Studio unique as an HD.
Very frustrating. Any thoughts?
