i just got the 3TB My Book Essential and am trying to set it up for my mac. i reformatted it to hfs+ case sensitve and journaled (which as im writing this may be a possible cause?) and then i downloaded the smartware dmg as per the manual, copied the contents, and ran the installer. it has been about 3 hours since it began and nothing has changed. If i decide now that i dont want the smartware can i cancel or eject the drive and should i then reformat it to ensure all the partial files are erased? pretty annoyed with this since i cant press any of the buttons on the installer and im not sure what to do.

if you have a mac better use Time Machine and forget about smartware
