Hello,
I used a WD MyPassport 4GB an 3 WD MyBook with 3GB.
After months of daily usage my password for the “MyPassport” (the password worked fine!) an Error ocurred: password invalid!
(The 3 “MyBooks” work fine.)
I had to delete my data and resetted my password to the old one again. The password was accepted by the Tool. But: After reconnecting the device the password was AGAIN invalid!.
It has the length of 36chars, today I saw only 25chars maximum are allowed.
With a new password smaller than 25 Chars it works again fine. (The 3 MyBooks had already a password smaller than 25 Chars.)
Now I am unsure: Was it an update? How can I avoid updates? How can I avoid that my other WD-HDDs are possibly unaccessable in the future?
And why didnt the Tool “WD Security” prevented the input of a password with more Chars than allowed? Is ist a current bug?
What if all my passwords were longer than 25 Chars? I have only this 3 Backups!!! (I thougt that should be enough)
