Hi everybody. I realize theres a lot of different posts regarding (somewhat) this topic, but nothing really suits my needs.
I’ve recently bought me a passport studio and as it is now I have one partition with half of the available space formated in the Mac journal thing. Then I want to use the remaining space to make a partition formated in FAT32.
I’ve been trying to use disk utility, but I can’t really figure out to format it properly here, because the only thing I can format to are around 3 various Mac OSX format systems and then free space.
I tried to download a plugin or whatever, allowing me to format in NTFS-3g, so the drive is discoverable in windows, and thereby allowing me to format the partition into FAT32 within windows, but when I do this, it gives me an internal error, saying something like this: “Disk utility has lost its connection to Disk Management.”
I wrote wd support and asked how to do this, and the only thing they told me was that it _is_ possible to format into FAT32 from Mac OS, but not how. Can anyone please help me? I’m growing weary of searching random forums with people having similar problems, but mostly they are trying to format an entire drive. When trying this, I think it is possible to format it to fat without any plugins. But I only want a partition in FAT32 not the entire drive.
I’ve also gotten the suggestion to buy the NTFS plugin for mac and then format my partition to NTFS and in windows from NTFS to FAT32, but I would prefer to do it without purchasing a plugin I’d only use once anyway.

If the drive is formatted ntfs and you use ntfs-3g, there is no need to use anything else.
The drive will work on windows since is formatted ntfs and will work on mac with the plug in.
Creating multiple partition will make the drive must vulnerable to get corrupted.
