WD Passport Password

I’ve had backup drives for quite a while, and had no problems creating a password (with WD Unlock). My old WD drive crashed recently, and I bought new WD Passport drives to back up my files on my aging desktop. WD Discovery software is installed, and I have followed the D Passport manual’s instructions over and over.
But when I run WD Discovery, Security, etc., I’m told they are already running. I can never get to where I can create a password.
I bought two 1 TB WD Passport drives. I’m running Windows 10 on a Gateway desktop.
When I run WD Discovery, I’m told that “this version is already installed on your computer.”
I can’t get past it. Help is appreciated!
By the way, is WD Unlock not good any more?
Some more information:

When I click on WD Backup I’m asked to add a backup plan.
I select my WD Passport storage device (not using cloud storage).
I select my edit schedule.
Then I’m asked to select files to back up.
I click on My Computer (Gateway C:)
but the files shown are not what I want to back up!
I can’t change them!
Can I create a password BEFORE selecting files to be protected?
Is WD Backup Anywhere still used?
When I open WD Security from my desktop,
I’m told to attach a supported WD drive.
I keep getting everything is installed messages.
Frustrating! I hate to have to return the purchased drives, because I have to backup for my computer files.
I can never get to password protection.

Hi bobbypet,

Did you check after reinstall of updated version of WD Security from WD Support site?
