I asked for help a bit back that I had erased my passport ultra and when I plugged it in it did show up in my drive on my coputer,but it was blank. No files. Now I really don’t need the backup that was on this unit. What I need t so is reinstall it so I can use it again. When I downloaded thr WD firmware for it and tried to unzip it to install the firmware, it tells me that it cannot open the file cannot be opened my Microsoft office as it has problems with the contents. Parts are missing or invalid. I downloaded this from the WD site. So, it is a working unit as it shows up in my pc, but it has actually not been installed as the smartware/firmware or wd drive utilites etc. (I don’t know which I have to download for the installation package) but I need to know how to do a install program so I can work it as new again. Can anybody advise? Why are the downloads saying the information has errors and missing items. Help. Do I have to get a new one. thisis only a few months old. I did make an error when I erased it, but I have no problem with the loss of what I lost. I want to start anew? Help-how can I get the information to install from the download if it isn’t any good? where do I go to do this/ . thanks
Hi, most likely your default program to open ZIP’s is not Windows Explorer or any other program that can open a ZIP file, you can go into the ZIP properties and change the type of program that is associated with them and that should allow you to open the file.
Thank you so much IIuna! I did as you suggested. I changed the type of program associated with the zip file and was able to open it and extract the files. Appreciate the help, you are the best.
