Currently i am having the 1.007 FW which came by factory default. Never updated the FW since i bought it.
I feel that USB 3.0 transfer speeds are not upto the mark when compared to seagate drives.
The drive rarely reaches transfer speed at 65 MB/s and then hovers around 50 MB/s at an average. This is too low for a USB 3.0 speed.
The universal updater software has detected the latest FW as 1.025.
Shall i continue updating the FW of the drive or safe to stay with the current ?.
Will it improve transfer speed ? .
I am much scared to update because, i have the WD TV LIVE HUB and the firmwares which WD releases are a night mare. I have not updated the firmware of my Hub since 3 years when i bought due to the buggy FW releases by WD.
If there are users who are happy with the latest FW release for My passport essential USB 3.0 which is clean without any bug and brings a notable performance improvement, kindly suggest me if i can go ahead with the update.
I am aware that prior to updating the FW i have to backup my data and after doing all that i dont want to mess up the drive or damage it currently or in future resulting in loss of data by installing a FW which is buggy…
