My passport 2tb HDD suddenly lost power and not appearing on my windows. The power lamp not turning and I don’t feel the vibration from it, that starts as it wroks. It was working fine then I Open revo uninstaller to remove Avast Antivirus then after it finished uninstalling, the Hard stopped working and no power. I tried another cable and another usb port and another PC but nothing works. What should I do? Help me please
Certain Passport models develop dry solder joints at the zero-ohm resistor adjacent to the USB connector. Reflowing the solder often fixes the problem.
Can you tell us the model number on the label of the drive inside the enclosure?
I’ll attach a photo of info at the back of the Hdd. And I really don’t understand what u said in the previous comment. Could you simplify it because I’m not that much hardware expert.
Is the problem Solvable? Or there something I could do that would help?
You won’t fix anything if you don’t open the case.
Are you a WD employee? Have you seen someone with a similar problem and it got fixed? Thanks for your effort, much appreciated
I watch the professional data recovery forums. This problem is common in particular models.

I’m sorry to hear about your HDD issue. Based on the model (WD624A614AVJ), the problem might be due to dry solder joints near the USB connector as said by @fzabkar , which is common in some My Passport drives. If the drive is under warranty, avoid opening it and contact WD support for assistance. If its not under warranty, then you could try reflowing the solder around the USB connector, but this requires technical expertise and carries risks. If you’re not confident, consider professional data recovery services to avoid data loss. Let me know if you need help with specific steps or further guidance
How long is the warranty? I bought it in Feb 2022.
So, could it be a minor issue and could it get back to work? I’m pretty Sad cause can’t afford a new one.
