WD external hard drive not responding on my computer

Hi,

I have a Western Digital external hard drive its 350GB. It was working fine then all of a sudden i plug it into my computer via the USB cable and the light comes on and stays on but its not recognizing anywhere on my computer.

Iv looked in the control panel and search for new devices but not comes up.

The light normally flashes but now it doesn’t flash just stays on.

I have also tried different computers and different USB cords.

If anyone can help me that would be a great help as I don’t want to loose the stuff on there.

Thanks

OMG!!! This is utterly rediculous. I have a magazine deadline thats past and guess whats on the hard drive that I cant get off???  You guessed it!!! You guys picked the wrongtime to play labrat with your customer. This is my 4th WD Hard Drive & the 1st with the USB Cord!!! Purely Garbage…I have to offer an plausable explaination to my subscribers and readers who are sending me mail pissed because of a late publication. I hope this product is recalled until you guys get it right & in the meanwhile I’ll have to explain to my readers that it was good ole Western Digital who held up the process.

Can you see the drive in Disk Management?  What’s it doing, or not doing?  Is it making any noises?

I have the same model and mine is doing the same thing.  It all started when it stopped backing up my files and then started to not respond at all when i plugged it in or tried to click on it.  I even totally deleted it off of my computer and re-installing it which did not work.  I am going to bring it back to best buy and get the 500 GB one and see if it works any better.

Did you try a different USB cable? Did you try it on another PC? You just learned the problem with having your data only on one place, never trust to one physical drive.
