hi guys.
need some advice.
Was handed a WD20EARX 2TB sata drive.
Owner sent it to computer shop who took the drive out of the case and obviously plugged it in to a sata drive reader. nothing happened. Owner has a shed load of photos and video of her partner who died. obviously no financial value but sentimental value is huge.
i was asked if i could take a look,. (rolls eyes)
ok, plugged in and powered up - can feel the drive spin up and initialise so not sticky heads etc. Drive does not show up in my linux box. would imagine that its the same on any other system. LSUSB does not even give me a controller name or usb id/vendor etc so nothing coming out of the drive.
Will take some voltage readings and report back here. seems like a lot of people are having trouble with this brand.
have done the usual forum checking and loads of suggestions so i think i will work through one by one and see whats happening.
if anyone does have suggestions, please reply and lets have a go.
