My 1TB Western Digital has been working fine and after viewing some videos through smart TV, I disconnected my hard-drive to do some work. I reconnected it via my computer, then suddenly, it wouldn’t open. My brother-in-law tried to access it through the device management and while it showed up there and my computer said the drive is working properly, it still won’t open up the drive. I really need to access the files as a lot of my important voice-over work and family photos and more are still in there. I don’t want to lose anything. If anyone could help me recover the files, I would be eternally grateful. Please help.
Assuming windows xp or 7, slick start, right click my computer, storage, disk management, check the drive is listed.
Hopefully it’s there but doesn’t have a drive letter assigned, right click the drive and select change drive letter and paths and give it a letter.
Well,
It appears that these particular models have the USB Board fail… which, on older Models would not be a big deal, except for the fact that, this Model is not a SATA or IDE or even PATA, but rather has the USB board embedded on the HardDrive, which means (for the DIY people or people dont want to shell out around $1500.00 to retrieve the data) that we are Done for. Quite frankly I am dissapointed at Western Digital, they used to be a reliable company and I gave out a lot of recommendations to them (back when Seagate was the alternative, and the HDD died all out of the sudden.) Anyways, like I siad, I am dissapointed at WD, So much, that I will be getting All my clients away from WD for for lack of reliability and since I’m a Costco Member, I will be sending some communication to them as well, I did noticed they sell WD, wouldnt want the rest of the client go through the same ordeal as I did, I dont really care about the software backed up in there, but I’m not happy about 10 yrs worth of family and friend’s pictures going down the drain (No I did not have the the HDD since then) but I transfered all my pictures to that HDD because the original was dying after 5+ years of usage.
I tried changing it to a different letter and the same error message still continues to pop up.
NOT ACCESSIBLE. PARAMETER IS INCORRECT.
Is it really that hefty of a price to retrieve data from your hard drive? There is no way I can afford that.
Did you find any solution? I am facing the similar issue?
