I just purchased the WD Elements 2TB Basic Portable Storage. I plugged it in, found the executable file in Windows Explorer, and installed it. I have Windows 10 OS. When I press the Windows key, I see the 2 new icons, WD Discovery & WD Backup. When I click WD Discovery, my pc whirrs for 2 seconds, stops, and there are no pop-ups or anything. Question: What is the purpose of WD Discovery and is there something wrong with my setup? Next, I click on WD Backup. Keep in mind, I purchased the external backup drive for the purpose of backing up at home and not on any cloud system. The WD Backup screen pops up. I click on Backup. It indicates I have no Backup Plan. I click the “Add Backup Plan” button, dialog box says:
Select your WD storage device or cloud service.
Your files will be backed up to the device or cloud service you select.
Up pops an icon of Dropbox. No mention of the actual device I purchased. I don’t want to use Dropbox.
My only 2 options are Next & Cancel.
Cancel stops the whole process, so I click Next.
The following window says “Connect to Dropbox.” It directs me to sign in to Dropbox. I don’t want to use Dropbox. I want to use my WD Elements.
There is no option to use my WD Elements. From this spot, I can only (a) sign in to Dropbox, (b) Go Back, or (c) Cancel.
How do I get to setup the backup to backup to the WD Element drive?
Thank you.

Below is from the WD Backup download page … i would prob try their suggestion instead.
WD Backup (Support for WD Backup has ended. Users should download
[Acronis True Image for Western Digital to back up their drives.)
Are you telling me WD sold me a 2TB Backup Drive that doesn’t backup unless I download some other software?
Also, do you know if Acronis does not store any of my data on the cloud? In other words, I’ll be backing up my computer on the WD 2TB hard drive and nowhere on the cloud?
