WD Elements 1TB not showing up in 'This PC'

Hello everyone,

My WD Elements 1TB is no longer showing up in the ‘Devices and Drivers’ section of ‘This PC’. When I look at it in Disk Management, it says it’s unallocated and not initialized, and it also does not have a drive letter anymore even though it did earlier today and yesterday.

I am able to safely eject it using Microsoft’s Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media option, and it also shows up in my Device Manager as well.

I’ve just began to use this less than 2 days ago, and I have less than 20 GB of data on it, so I have absolutely no clue what may be the cause of this and how to fix it. I’m also using Windows 10 as well.

If anyone can provide some sort of help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Hello there,

Normally when the drive says it is not initialized it can be a partition corruption, try to test the drive on a different computer to see if the files do come up, also try a different USB cable to see if this helps.
