I had bought a new 1TB WD Elements in December 2016 and had been using the WD Smartware trial software version, with my Windows10 laptop. Now that I am unable to upgrade it to SmartwarePro (as it is discontinued), I noticed that I could use WD Backup app. But, when I use the WD Backup app, it does not recognize the portable external drive. It just shows a cloud device as an option. Appreciate any guidance on how I can get back the Backup feature on WD Elements drive - either with a paid software or a fee one.
You can use the built-in Windows 10 backup app within Settings.
