i have a problem with my WD 1tb HD ,

every time i connect it to my  Laptop it just beeps ,the drive doesn’t show on my computer , i’ve tried everything , in the past i would just restart my computer it it would work , but it stopped working after a while ,until one day i put the disk in a vertically-oriented position (so the light points up) and it worked , now do i have to do this everytime i need my HD ?,i would like to know what it means , could the HD need  mechanical maintenance because recently it made funny mechanical noises these noises were different from the beeps, im afraid that HD is slowly damaging ,also note that this problem  not from the USB port nor the HD cable , the HD was purchased almost 2 years ago , note that during that period of time  i contacted WD’s distributer in jordan in the middle east to help me regarding the matter , their response was that the HD is not under their warranty since the HD was purchased in the USA  this contraditcs with WD policy since you told me that this is doable and with no problems , now my HD is out of warranty

please help on this

Since turning the drive has an affect it sounds like a problem with the USB cable or port. I had this same problem with a USB DVD burner. Try another cable that is not longer than the original.

what about the warranty , and what about my local distributer ?

and i told you already its not from the cable i changed the cable twice , there is something wrong with the Hard disk itself

please give me solution other than the USB port / cable
