WD 1TB Passport Not Recognized By Laptop (1TB Passport SE)

Hello,

Upon connecting the Passport to my laptop via the USB Cable, there is a small white light to indicate the fact that it is plugged into the USB Drive. However, I am not getting the vibration that would indicate that the drive is running. Instead, there is a small start-up vibration, as if it is beginning to run, followed by a small noise that ends the start-up. This happens 5 times before there is absolutely no noise. As such, there is nothing under Device Manager.

Is there any way of recovering the data before using professional services? I have a ton of personal data on it that I would prefer to recover myself.

I am running Windows 7.

Try a different cable that isn’t longer than the one suppied and don’t use a hub.

I have used two different cables (other than the supplied one) plugged directly into the laptop, without a hub.

Still the same. Small sound, five times, nothing after that.
