View individual files in my passport

I just bought and installed a new 1tb my passport.  Everything is working fine as far as backing up goes.  I tested out the retrieve and that works great too.  My question is about viewing files directly on the my passport without having to retrieve them.  Are you suppose to be able to click on a file in the my passport and have it open or do you have to retrieve it first?  I am not disconnecting the mp from my pc so maybe that is an issue?

If you used Smartware to backup your files, you can explore the backup folder manually. Inside the Passport you will see a folder with the name “Smartware.swstor”, if you explore this folder you can access your files manually.
