I closed the SmartWare software, to close my back up. Then I hit safely remove. I was told not to pull My Passport out, unless the lights were off completely. I was told to close everything, before trying to disconnect. (this was by a tech over the phone) Last night, and today, when I hit safely remove, and get a message saying it is safe to remove, the light is still slowly flashing. Last night I totally shutdown, in order to disconnect the device. If you try to go back and hit safely remove, there is nothing there. But that light is still flashing. I should not have to shut down entirely to remove My Passport. Can someone tell me what is going on with this?

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
In the case of the passport, it will keep flashing the light slowly when you click on safely remove. the important thing to notice is when the computer shows you that can safely remove the drive.
