I got notices of software updates for WD Update during the last 36 hours, but one of them shows it is done, then again I get notices that I have an update, the same as before, tried it four times now. Attempts to fully uninstall WD Update to do a completely new install with the new version doesn’t work either, it stays in my list of programs no matter what. What is going on? I have Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and an 4Tb My Book. Do you have a better uninstaller that I could download before making attempts to install the updated version from scratch?

Exactly the same issue.
We had the same issue after an update in early 2020. Fixed by uninstalling, clean-up delete, reinstall as ADMIN.
- Follow WD’s directions for uninstalling WD Backup (Uninstall in Windows)
- Delete the following WD Backup Index Files from the C drive:
-
c:\ProgramData\WesternDigital\
- This will contain c:\ProgramData\WesternDigital\WDBackup
and c:\ProgramData\WesternDigital\Logs\WDBackup\
- This will contain c:\ProgramData\WesternDigital\WDBackup
-
Also delete - c:\Users[Customer User Account]\AppData\Roaming\Western Digital\WD Backup\
- Delete ANY desktop icons or other old WD Backup shortcuts
- Do a cold reboot. (Shutdown/Power up)
- Install as Administrator
