I just received My Passport Essential SE with USB 3.0. I’m a Linux user (Ubuntu 10.10). At the first moment, I noticed the slow file transfer from my PC to my passport using NTFS, around 20MB/s in a single 5Gb file, as the OLD USB 2.0 external devices.
I reformatted the disk to Ext4, and now the capacity is reduced to 870 GB, much less than the 931 GB of NTFS. Now, the file transfer is fine, around 80MB/s using the same file.
