Unable to disable VCD

I’m running win7 64bit Ultimate and when I try to run the WD SmartWare Virtual CD Manager for Windows-v1.0.7.4 it doesn’t find my WD My Passport Essesnial external drive for some reason.  When I press the recheck button I get the same thing.

 I did check and my firmware is updated when I ran the firmware update utility. 

Any suggstions?

Try to uninstall the WD Smartware software and then try the VCD manager again.

The Virtual CD Manager is not compatible with all WD PAssport Essential models; what particular model is your unit? Is it from the WDBAAAxxxx family? This can be confirmed in the unit’s barcode label.

Try going into the Device Manager and disable it there. That’s what I did on a My Book with VCD about 2 years ago.
