Troubles!

About three weeks ago I used my 500 GB Passport Elite on a Mac, and unlocked it with no problem!
When I attempted to use it on my Windows XP again, I was unable to unlock it despite the amount I tried.

Someone told me that if I were to delete WD-smartwear and try to re-download it. So I have and I tried to download it again (though I don’t remember if I had used a disk to initially do so, so I just tried to plug it in) and have experienced the same problem, and now I don’t even have the option to reformat it. At the momement, I am trying to download the program off the site, however I am uncertain as to how well it will work.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Once you used on your Mac (reformatted) it will not work on Windows unless you use an application to read the drive, or, if you reformat.  Deleting Smartware was not the best since that’s the utility that allows you to unlock the harddrive.

You can try recovering the  Smartware Installer and unlock the drive. If you plan on using the drive to cross platforms (mac-win) you can use an application on Win called  Mac Drive 7.
