I just got my Fuze 8gb from Amazon and I’m afraid it’s just not as user-friendly as my Zune 8gb. This WMP syncing is the PITS!! Everytime I try to sync every %$#@! file in my computer goes into my Fuze! I’ve tried to follow the directions I’ve read regarding doing it manually, but I still don’t seem to GET IT. I bought it on a whim, anyway. I think the only reason I did is because of the price and I thought the Micro SD cards would be an added bonus. But, I can’t even find any accessories out there for it! And, I’m concerned that it’s going to be a chore everytime I want to sync. I like that I can just drag songs off of my Zune page into my device. I can also drag songs I’ve downloaded onto WMP into Zune very easily.
I just boxed it up and I’m going to send it back, regretfully. My Zune is still new and at least I know how to work that! Sooooo much easier to sync and the actual player is simpler to use, too. I like the interface and song lists—much easier to read for me.
Oh, well. I tried to like the Sansa Fuze. :womansad: We still have a couple of tiny SanDisk Sansa MP3 players (without a screen) from a few years ago. We’ll keep those around for kicks. But, I’ll stick with my Zune for my regular tune-listening. :womanvery-happy: My daughter will stick with her iPod Nano and my husband will use the old Sansa or his Palm built-in MP3 player until he decides what to get. The iTouch seems very tempting to him. :manwink:

Ditch it if you want, but synching with WMP is very easy. Of course you need to turn-off auto-synching, this should be off by default. This shouldn’t affect the issue itself either way, but I would recommend you go into USB mode, under system settings in the settings menu, and change it from Auto Detect to MSC. Then, using WMP11, you just drag everything over that you want to sync, and when you’re ready, press sync. It really couldn’t be any easier…

Very true Cruiserdude. I have MediaMonkey as well as WMP11, because it gives more file type availability, and podcast catching, but for sync’ing a large quantity of music to a Fuze(or Clip), the way you describe above with WMP is great
I’m not sure what you mean by USB mode and systems settings. Is this on the Windows Media Player or on the actual Fuze? I had unchecked Auto sync somewhere previously, but can’t seem to find where now.
And, I’m wondering if that even worked. After I formatted my Fuze to delete everything and start over, I still couldn’t seem to manually drop songs over. It just began syncing on its own again. I quickly clicked on stop sync , but then it said I only had 3.-something gb left. And, it looked like random songs synced. I actually wanted ALL my songs. I just did NOT want any pictures or video! Sigh. It just looks so much more complicated than my Zune software and the way I download songs to WMP first.
It’s on the fuze under system settings.
2leaches,
The easy answer to your manual sync issues ais to visit the HELP WITH SYNCH option under the sync tab menu.
I’ve found anything Micro$#!% not so user friendly, including the Zune and WMP. I can’t even get the Zune to work on my Linux computer. Using the Fuze, however, is easy-just connect it to any Mac OS X or Linux computer, and use it like a flash drive to get my music on it. Also, when I got my Zune, it stopped working the first day. And I mean, STOPPED WORKING!!! It wouldn’t even turn on. And it was a load of trouble before that. Couldn’t even get my music on it, not even from my mother’s Vi$ta computer, not even from WMP. Then, once I did get my music on there, it wouldn’t play anything (and you’d think the Zune would support WMA). Also, when ripping my music CDs with WMP, the sound always gets distorted, no matter what version of WMP I’m using or what bitrate I set it to. In addition to that, whenever I connect my flash drive or Fuze to a Windoze machine, I almost always need to reformat from my Linux computer. This is no joke, I’m being serious here.
I love my Fuze because, like I said, all I do is connect it up to either Linux or Mac OS X and use it like a flash drive to get my music on or off of it. Not to mention I find the menus easy to navigate.
