Is there some type of trick to fully take ownership of files that were backed up to the WD Passport drive using WD Smartware on an XP operating system now running Windows 7???
I wiped and installed a “Legal” copy of Windows 7 Pro on said computer and now when I try to access the backup files
on the WD Passport in the WDsmartware.swstor folder i get a message about “No Permission” etc…
I have taken ownership of files on external drives before many many times and have had “No Problems”.
(Properties, Security, Advanced, Owner, Edit, Etc…)
But, ALL the previous times WD Smartware was NOT used.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
