Smartware won't open

Hello!  My SmartWare application will not open… I get an error box that says Exception from HRESULT: 0x88982F04

I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything several times but I keep getting this error.  This started about a week ago or so.  I really liked this software and purchased it after the free trial (using it on non-western digital hard drives).  Does anyone have any ideas?

Follow the steps on the link below to make sure you uninstall the software.

How to uninstall WD SmartWare Version 2.2.x and earlier from Windows (8, 7, Vista, or XP) and Mac OSX (10.4, 10.5, 10.6, and 10.7)

Then install the latest version.

It no longer works!!

Uninstalled several times follwoign instructions from level 2 support. Cleaned the registry and reinstalled unsuccesfully.

Tech support suggested removing Smartware and using W7 backup. 

Really frustrating
