When I open Smartware the home page does not show my My Book For Mac external HD and the tab for Backup is dead. I can not back up anything. The only thing that shows up on the Home page is my main Mac HD. My Book For Mac is mounted and I can even trash files from it, but NOTHING else.
I really wish I had never bought this HD.

Can you manually copy files into the My Book drive?
I can now that I re-partitioned the drive, but it is still a nightmare
to use.
Every time I copy a file to it I have to do the authorizations every time.
And every time I unlock the drive it locks when it is turned off and
started again.
It is nothing but one big hassle to use. The unlock will not stay
unlocked.
The other day I backed up with Time Machine. It took 16 hours and after
that
time I get an error message saying backup failed and there was not one
single file on it.
