SmartWare installation problem

I have unlocked my drive.

I double click on WD SmartWare Installer.exe

It starts installing WD SmartWare.

It gets as far as SmartWarePackagex86, and I can see it installing files to my C:\Program Files\Western Digital\WD SmartWare file folder, but then I get the message …

Service “WD Backup” (WD Backup) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient provileges to install system services.

And then it rolls back.

I’m using Windows XP, and am the only user.

Any ideas?

Try downloading and installing the latest version from our website.

Make sure to remove or uninstall any previous Smartware you might have on the computer.
