Smartware didn't detect MBL as Windows & Other WD software managed to detect it

Need help from all of the experts, since the Smartware keep NOT detecting the MBL sometimes … thus, there is no automatic backup running behind. Any solution to let Smartware ‘succesfuuly + stable’ to detect the MBL (in wireless condition, don’t ask me to plug in the LAN cable to router with PC/Laptop) ??

Thank you very much.

Make sure UPnP is enable in the router.

Also, verify that your internet security and/or firewall is not blocking Smartware from accessing the drive.

Calvinyoo82,

The advice provided by John012 is correct; WD SmartWare will try to detect your WD My Book Live Personal Cloud Storage device using the UPnP protocol, which can be disabled by security settings on your computer and/or router.

Hi  John012,

Good day. Appreciate your help. Anyway, I tried both your suggestions, seems they are not work.

However, I think I had the solution (search from other forum):

Maybe there is some programs (non-WD) have changed the setting for uPnP & SSDP (Computer management > Service and Applications > Service) from ‘Automatic’ to ‘Manual’. So, I went to there (both SSDP Discovery & uPnP Device Host) change the setting to ‘Automatic’. Then, it works fine now.

Thanks again for your help.

Calvinyoo82,

Thank you for the feedback, and yes, it is quite unusual for a critical network service to change in behavior without intervention. Nonetheless, I am glad this issue has been resolved for you.
