I use WD Smartware for my two WD Essential hard drives. As i have smartware installed already would it not reconise a WD Elements if i purchased one. I notice you can buy an elements drive with a trial smartware pro, but it seems feasible it should work with my installed software.
Hello, only the WD Smartware pro will recognize the WD Elements, as the Pro version is designed to work with drives that don’t come with Smartware by default.

Thanks for your reply that make a lot of sence, just one question would the Pro version also reconise other external hard drives (not WD).
