I just downloaded SmartWare but it does not recognize my external drives (My Book and My Passport), it only recognizes my internal harddrive. Any ideas on what the problem might be? I have an iMac running OS X (10.8.5).

Would you kindly share the exact models of your WD My Book and WD Passport models? Some of them are not compatible with WD SmartWare on Apple Mac OS systems.
