Sansa e250 2GB memory card limit?

Is the limit of the size of the Memory card that the Sansa e250 truly 2GB or has someone been able to have it recognize up to 8gb or maybe even 16gb with certain brands of Micro SD Cards?

Depends on whether it’s a v1 or v2 model.

V1’s are limited to 2GB (SD) unless you install 3rd-party, alternative firmware called Rockbox.

V2’s will handle the SDHC format (up to 32GB) natively.

This RockBox is pretty Cool it adds features not found on any other media players when they use their own firmware. I wish they had RockBox for the Creative Vision Zen W player.

I wish they had a theme that was the same as the original Sandisk’s firmware because the Fonts are too small for me to read being an old fart without my young teenager eyes anymore. I still have some exploring to and it seem you can change the Now Playing screen them to be different then the settings screens or at least  I hope that is how it is.

The feature to make the Player a media control device is cool and it’s supported in Linux.

Speaking of Linux I could not get the loader program to work in Linux so I simply used Windows but as long as I can make it work it’s ok.

It’s so stupid how Sandisk won’t add support for memory cards bigger then 2GB on the version 1 players but a free firmware adds that support.

Someone wrote one . . . I’ve seen it, I just can’t remember exactly where. Try the abi forums; there’s a specific board for Rockbox and posting of themes.

By the way, it’s been a while since I played with my Rockboxed machine, but if I recall coreectly you can change the font size w/o changing the theme. Just for us 'ol fogeys so we don’t have to drag out the bifocals to listen to our music. Smiley

I took the stupid thing back for store credit because it’s not worth the hassel.

I a plan to get the FUZE 2GB version.

Thanks for the info anyway.

The v1 e200 is reminiscent of American heavy metal, like a Ford 302 or a Chevy 350 V8.  It doesn’t have the “zing” of a modern v6 with turbocharging, or even an inline five with direct injection, but it’s tough as nails.

It has style, and you can customize it to your needs.

You won’t be disappointed with the Fuze , especially if you liked the “morphing” fonts of the Sansa Rhapsody model.  The new device is wonderful to navigate with.  The Fuze began life nestled within the e200 shell, as the e200 v2.

With the Fuze, you can install up to 32GB microSD.  With the requisite large database, I’d recommend using MTP mode to streamline the process, with that many files available.
