Hi,
My Sansa Clip + stopped playing audio tracks (same mp3 files it used to play always) after I upgraded to firmware 1.02.18A.
The player just skips all tracks with scratchy sound one after another. Doesnt play them anymore.
What is wrong ??
Is there any way to fix it?
Is there any way to rollback to the original firmware ver 1.02.15 that worked fine ??
You could try manually re-applying the .18 f/w version. If nothing changes yes, you can manually re-apply the .15 firmware version.
You can find it here:
http://mp3support.sandisk.com/firmware/clipplus/clipplus01.02.15.zip
Thank you. I will try it now…
How exactly do I manually re-apply ?
What is the procedure?
Hi, Tapeworm
Thanks for suggestion. I have installed the previous firmware, but it didnt solve the problem.
However, what I found out is:
The player plays copied MP3 files just fine when the USB Mode is set to Auto or MTP. If the USB Mode is set to MSC (Mass Storage), same MP3 files copied under this USB Mode cannot be played back
Any idea what is going on?
I used to copy file over using MSC mode before and play them just fine.
P.S. I am experiencing this problem on Windows XP at work.
At home, everything workED fine on Windows 7.
Dont know if it will work now after the firmware upgrade (or maybe it’s unrelated).
Thanks a lot for any help.

Since the problem is a little different, I will repost it under the new title.
No idea whatsoever . . that is a new one on me and totally weird! I always use MSC and have transferred literally thousands of songs that play without issue.
And there’s no need for a different thread. In fact, I’d recommend deleting it (under Options in upper right-had corner of post) before someone replies to it and you can’t. Less confusion that way, for both you and others following the situation.
Done, removed that post. Feel free to put your comments in here.
Thanks.
By any chance, are the songs that won’t play back when transferred under MSC mode DRM-protected files?
Well,
I dont know what was actually the problem, but for sure it was OS related.
I am back home to my Windows 7 and everything works perfectly now.
The problem I experienced was at work, where I have Windows XP SP3 OS.
On Windows 7 at home I copy MP3 files in MSC mode and play them no problem at all.
Maybe the driver at work on Windows XP is defective or not suitable to copy files correctly to the player using MSC mode.
I dont know. At least everything works fine now.
P.S. The funny thing is that tech support lady already told me that my player is ruined and it is absolutely impossible to fix.
She also said that it is absolutelly impossible to install previous ver. of the firmware
and that there is no previous ver. of firmware available anymore
She also said that the only way to “fix” the problem is for me to buy a new player
Just brilliant!
Thanks every1 for your help.

Sometimes I wonder why Sandisk pays those tech support people for some of the bone-headed answers they give.
Seriously though, there are a lot of sharp cookies in SanDisk’s Customer Service. Unfortunately, there are also a few that are a little dull around the edges.
They should be paying us here on the forum instead.
I’d be willing to accept a dollar per post
. . . after taxes, of course.
