SanDisk Ultra USB Type-C 32GB Flash Drive (SDCZ450-032G-G46)

I just purchased the SanDiask Ultra USB Type-C 32 GB Flash Drive from Amazon for my Google Pixel XL, which does not have an SD Card slot, but it has 128GB of internal storage.  Every time I would flash Official Factory .img files, it would wipe everything, application backups, ROM backups, etc so i figured this flash drive would be seen by the Pixel XL as a SD Card or external storage by a file manager and i would easily be able to switch files between the device and the flash drive.  If there is a special app i need to use, to be able to use the Flash Drive as a SD Card?

Also, i notice that the Flash Drive heats up pretty good.  Not hot to the touch but it get very warm.  It’s not even in use, yet its plugged into the device and it gets hot.  I just want to make sure i dont have a defective flash drive…
