Sandisk Ultra 3D 1TB as an external drive? Not in my two housings apparently!

I just bought two of these SSDs intending to put them into a couple of older 2.5" external drive housings and use for backups. So far one drive works in neither housing. The drive is recognized, but under Properties it shows as having no space or free space.

One housing is a Seagate SRD00F1, the other is an Ultra Speed Serial ATA housing with a DC5v center positive power port (I’ve never needed to use a power supply with the 1TB SATA drive currently in the housing)

The Seagate housing uses a Micro B data connection and the Ultra Speed housing uses Mini USB

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Sceptical,

Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the SD Technical Support team for best assistance and troubleshooting:

it is possible that the SSDs may not be properly formatted or initialized. It is recommended to check if the drives are formatted correctly and initialized before attempting to use them for backups.
