Restore to New Hard drive on Windows 7 Laptop

I replaced a failing hard drive on my Toshiba Laptop and wish to restore previously saved backup files from the Passport. The “Restore” function is grayed out, and states “There are no files to restore. You have not scheduled a backup plan.”

I had a backup plan previously on the old hard drive, and I can see the files using Windows. Is there a way to activate the restore function, or do I have to do this manually?

Hello,

Did you use the same software to backup the files? If not, you will need to use the same software to restore them.

If you are able to see the files in windows explorer, you might be able to restore the files manually.
